Pastor Alice M. Edwards, 60

Pastor Alice Marie Edwards entered into eternal rest on Resurrection Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a lengthy struggle with multiple sicknesses over the years.  Pastor Edwards was born to the late Mr. Eddie B. Coxfield and Mrs. Edith M. Coxfield on December 14, 1957. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Deacon Nathaniel Edwards on March 4, 1978. God granted them 31 years of marital bliss and to this wonderful union, two children were born. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Little Miss Carlisha Latrelle Coxfield, one step-daughter, Ms. Tamicca Yolanda Jones and one brother, Deacon Benjamin Stanford, Jr.

Pastor Edwards was a member of the Cook County High School graduating class of 1976. She also attended Valdosta State College after completing her high school education. Pastor Edwards was a native of Cook County and began her Christian experience at the Cottrell Chapel C.M.E. Church located in Sparks, GA. After marriage, she joined the Mt. Calvary Universal Holiness Church in Morven, GA for more than 20 years. She was ordained as a licensed Minister by the late Bishop Edward Jack Lucas. In 2006, she and her husband joined the Northside Holiness COCWIH in Quitman, GA. While there, she was ordained as a licensed Elder. She served faithfully until she was moved by the Holy Ghost to begin the New Generation Christian Ministries in May of 2008 in Quitman, GA. She served faithfully as the Senior Pastor and Overseer up until her health failed.

She leaves to rejoice her memory, one daughter, Mrs. Shaquanta D. Hogan (Julius), Quitman, GA; one son, Mr. Nathan T. Edwards, Sr. (Flecia), Lake Park, GA; five grandchildren, Alizah A. N. Edwards, Nathan T. Edwards, JR, Nathaniel Isaiah Edwards, Valdosta, GA, Natalie D. Edwards, Lake Park, GA, and Julius F. Hogan III, Oahu, Hawaii; a cousin that she raised as her own, Jonathan (Champ) Gilbert and a niece that she raised as her own, Arkasha N. Smith, Morven, GA, her loving mother, Mrs. Edith Coxfield, Sparks, GA; one brother, Mr. Michael Coxfield, Hahira, GA; one sister, Ms. Bernadine Jones, Quincy, FL; two uncles, Mr. Wallace Coxfield and Mr. Earl Jackson (Marva), Sparks, GA; three aunts, Mrs. Eleanor Wright (Aron), Adel, GA, Mrs. Rosa Lee Leggett, Montgomery, AL, and Mrs. Darlene Coxfield, Columbia, SC; three brother-n-laws, Mr. Willie Miller, Jr., Thomasville, GA, Mr. Donald Edwards (Mary), Sparks, GA, and Mr. Solomon Edwards, Sr. (Linda), Morven, GA; six sister-n-laws, Mrs. Janice Stanford, Centerville, GA, Mrs. Dorothy Outen, Birmingham, AL, Ms. Helen Edwards, Mrs. Martha McKinnon (Abe), Morven, GA, Mrs. Doris Layton (Vincent), Hopkins, SC, and Mrs. Delores McFadden (Jimmy), Columbia, SC., her special friends, Mrs. Gwen Joiner, Sparks, GA, Mrs. Kim Melton (Joel), Fitzgerald, GA, Ms. Bernice Anderson, Ma Sandy Hart, Sis. Joann Kier, Pastor Dr. Charles E. and Lady Evelyn D. Vinson, Valdosta, GA, Pastor Judy Bryant and Sis. Loretha Arnold, Quitman, GA, The Universal Holiness Church Organization, The New Generation Christian Ministries Church family, Quitman, GA, The Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church family, Valdosta, GA, and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at The Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Valdosta with Pastor Dr. Charles Vinson officiating. Burial followed in the North End Cemetery in Quitman. Dinner followed in The Evelyn McGhee Repast Center in Quitman. Condolences may be made by visiting Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
