Pastor John L. Hall, Jr., 54

Pastor John Lee Hall, Jr. was born to Mr. John Lee Hall Sr. and Ms. Ethel Lee Harris on September 4, 1963 in Brooks County. He attended and graduated from the Brooks County High School in 1983. He was a truck driver for many years and was also employed by the state of Georgia Corrections.

John was introduced to the Lord at an early age at St. Phillips A.M.E. Church in Empress (Brooks County).  He was blessed with many talents; especially singing.  As a member of Mt. Hope M.B. Church he was a faithful servant and served in several ministries including being a founding member of The Young Adult Choir and being the drummer.  He was ordained as a deacon in March 2005 and answered his call to ministry in July of 2007.  Through this, he was motivated to further his education and his love for Christ by attending Bethany Divinity College and Seminary in Dothan, AL. Alas, Pastor John Hall, Jr. was called to pastor his own flock.  He was installed as Pastor of New Grove M.B. Church in Pavo, GA on October 29, 2017.

John Hall, Jr. departed this earthly life on March 22, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Janet and Anna Hall and his grandmother Anna Bennett.  He leaves to cherish his memories; his mother and father John Lee Hall Sr. and Ms. Ethel Lee Harris; his wife of 33 years, Beverly Hall; three daughters, Janet Hall Williams (Marlon) Janeshia Hall and Jasmine Hall; five grandchildren JaMiya Gray, Imani Hall, James Gray, Kendrick Manning and Josiah Giddens; siblings; Eva Peeples, Bonita Hall, Dorothy Hall, Sharon (Reginald) Hall-Rucker, Sharon (Colin) Roberts, Tammy Lamons, Rhonda Wyche, Willie Harris, Wilson Hall (Tijuana) and David Hall; Aunts and uncles: Edward Whitehead, Sadie Roe, Henrietta Larry, Loretta Gibbs, Carrie Hall, Emma L. Merrit, Eugene (Inez) Hall, and Robert (Joan) Hall and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Delvin Boatman officiating. Burial followed in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quitman. Dinner followed in the church annex. Condolences may be made by visiting  Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
