Helen Jean Wileman McCleskey, 89, passed away at Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences, NM on April 25, 2018. Helen was born in Sharon Springs, Kansas on August 16, 1928 to Franklin Fred Wileman and Goldie Fern Wade Wileman.

Helen’s family moved from Kansas to Hot Springs, NM in 1945. She graduated from Hot Springs High School where she met and married Alton P. McCleskey. They later moved to Albuquerque and then to Milan, NM to start an Auto Body Shop. She lived in the Grants-Milan area for 59 years and they raised their children there.

Helen is survived by two sons: Larry J. McCleskey (Becky) and Ronald L. McCleskey (Tracie); daughter, Judy E. McCleskey Whitney; grandchildren: Shawna R. Lamb, Jamie R. Bizzell, Jeannie M. Mahan, Randy L. McCleskey, Stephanie E. Oliver, Amanda J. Funk and Shayla L. Whitney; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Wileman of Tulsa, OK; extended family, Ken and Kathy Hobbs, Stephanie Hobbs, K.W. Hobbs and Shaunda Williams. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life and she considered each of them a blessing. Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Louise McCleskey, who passed away shortly after her birth in 1957.

Helen was the “Queen” of the Red Hatters Club in the Grants-Milan area, of which she was very proud! She enjoyed playing dominoes and was a very social person-she enjoyed people. Helen leaves behind numerous friends in the Grants-Milan area. 

Cremation has taken place and two Memorial Services will be held in Helen’s honor; the first will be held in Grants at the First Baptist Church (224 Mountain Road) on May 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The Second Service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Albert J. Lyons Event Center in Truth or Consequences.
