    We're sorry to hear about your recent loss. May you find strength from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Mrs. Sallie Annaree Gaines Bertha

Mrs. Sallie Annaree Gaines Bertha went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 30, 2018. She was born on October 11, 1928, in Rock Hill, SC and she was the daughter of the late Alexander Gaines and Nancy Sibley Gaines. She received Christ and joined the church at an early age and was a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church and Flint Hill Gospel Chorus. She was joined in marriage to James Frank Bertha, Sr. on October 26, 1946. She was a wonderful homemaker and a devoted and loving wife and mother to her husband and seven children. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers: James Gaines, Robert Gaines, Alexander Gaines and Bobbie Gaines and three sisters, Floree G. James, Mary G. Hinton and Pearline G. Lowery.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband of 71 years, James Frank Bertha, Sr., three sisters, Martha G. Glenn, Elizabeth G. Miles and Ida Ree Gaines, three sons, James Frank Bertha, Jr., William Lee Bertha and Alexander Bertha (Sherry); four daughters, Sally Ann Bertha, ROse Bertha Cummings (James), Emma Bertha Peoples (Vallo) and Doris Bertha Barber (Albert), 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ at 339 Charlotte Avenue, Rock Hill, SC on Friday May 4, 2018 at 1:00pm followed by interment at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 S Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC. Additionally, a walk through viewing will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. The family will receive friends at the home at 1434 Archive Street, Rock Hill, SC. Clemons-McCray Funeral Home is in charge.
