Mr. Robert E. L. Thomas, 78

Robert Edward Lee Thomas (Chicken), was born December 23, 1939 to the late Mr. General Thomas and Mrs. Loretta Lee Thomas. He transitioned from this life on April 16, 2018 at Brooks County Hospital. He grew up and resided in Brooks County and was educated in the Brooks County School system. He worked many years for the Langdale Lumber Company. Robert’s passion was woodworking, repairing all types of equipment, and doing handy work. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized in the mid 1970’s at the Laurel Street Church of Christ.

Robert was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife Mary Pauline Catledge on July 29, 1959. To this union six children were born. He is preceded in death by his son, Reco Ricordow Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Mrs. Mary Thomas; two brothers: Godfrey Thomas (Laura), Quitman, GA and Tyrone Thomas, Ellenville, NY;  five loving children: Duane Thomas (Janice), Havelock, NC, Linda Thomas-Minor, Quitman, GA, Erica Thomas-Rountree (Michael), Warner Robins, GA, Anthony Thomas (Francine), Albuquerque, NM, Antonio (Slick) Thomas, Quitman, GA; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two aunts Minnie Little, Quitman, GA and Margaret Dunning, Tampa, FL; four goddaughters; Jacqueline Woodall-Oxford, Carla Harris, Keisha Harrison and Charlotte Thomas; one godson: Jarvis Carter and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Shumate Church of Christ in Quitman with Minister Tony Herring officiating. Burial followed in the North End Cemetery in Quitman.
