Reverend Dr. Avon Levern Chapman, 71, of Davie Florida formerly of New Bern died Monday, May 7, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic, Weston, FL.

His viewing is 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Oscar's Memorial Chapel 1700 Oscar Drive followed by the interment rites at Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Reverend Dr. Patricia Russell-Chapman of the home; sons, Avon Chapman II, Rashan Chapman and Javon Chapman;  daughters, Carlisa Jarrett and Thias Chapman; his sister, Angela Chapman Fisher of New Bern; five grandchildren.

    I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Chapman's passing. I shall always be indebted to he and his wife Pat, for assisting me in taking a small group of children to the Annenberg Center in Philly for two years on Saturday mornings.
