Robert E. Jackson, 95, of Harrisburg passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

He was born in Athens, GA, son of the late Claude E. and Hattie M. (Thompson) Jackson, retired from the U. S. Army with 23 years of service and Penn State M. S. Hershey Medical Center, a member of Wesley Union A. M. E. Zion Church and in his leisure, was an avid reader and enjoyed golf.

Robert leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth R. Jackson; his daughter and son-in-law, Raquel V. and John O. Campbell; his two grandchildren, Naomi Shardae Campbell and Jordan Nelson Campbell; his sister Carolyn Brown and a host of other relatives, including in-laws, nieces, nephews and godchildren. 

His life will be celebrated on Friday, May 11th at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of his Church at 5th and Camp Sts. with viewing/visitation 10 until 11 a.m. and burial with military honors at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Monday, May 14th at 10:30 a.m.

    We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29).
