          Helen G. Sedillo, 96, a lifetime resident of Sierra County, died on Friday, May 11, 2018 at her son’s home in Silver City, NM.  She was born on February 17, 1922 in El Paso, TX to Lucio Gutierrez and Rosa Pallion.  She was the fifth child of twelve children.

          Her life’s work was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved to be surrounded by her family and nurturing and caring for her grandchildren.  She was a good cook as experienced by many.  Her specialty was fresh bread and sweet rice.   She loved and was well known for dancing the polka with her husband, Hermilo, and later, her son, Phillip. 

          Survivors include her children – Mary Jane Armijo and husband, Elfego, Phillip Sedillo and wife, Virginia, Ricky Sedillo and wife, Angie, Doris Terrazas and husband, Jackie, Alfred Sedillo and wife, Mary Ann, and Gary Nuanez; grandchildren – Eugene Armijo, Bonnie Armijo, Angela Armijo and companion, Robert Ortega, Chris Sedillo and wife, Monica, Kristen Hodges and husband, Lee, Shelly Terrazas, Mack Trujillo, Leo Trujillo and wife, Alexa, James Trujillo and wife, Krisann, Victor Alcorta (Emily), Peter Alcorta, Michael Alcorta (Luz), and Sally Alcorta; great-grandchildren – Dustin Armijo, Delicia and Raiden Ortega, Jarrod Crespin, Alaina and Elias Sedillo, Zachery and Zakilah Dennis, Jericho Barela, Owen and Kara Hodges, Brendan Trujillo, Mackenzie Trujillo, Amaya Trujillo, Ahlyia Trujillo, Brayden Trujillo, Marcus Trujillo, Gloria White, Davianna Alcorta, Angelina Alcorta, Gilbert Alcorta, Sallya Quevedo, Esperanza Alcorta, Anna Alcorta, Michael Alcorta, Jr., Makayla Alcorta, Savannah Alcorta, David Alcorta, Eddie Alcorta; caregiver, Sylvia Littot; sisters-in-law – Mary Gutierrez, Dolores Moya and Susie Davis; niece/sister, Lydia Minnick; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucio and Rosa Gutierrez; her husband of 51 years, Hermilo M. Sedillo; all of her siblings – Margaret Ivy, Inez Salas, Rufina Frias, Beatrice Nuanes, Leonor Bierner, Lucio Gutierrez, Gilbert “Beto” Gutierrez, Anselmo Gutierrez, Jennie Olivas Baca, Cruz Gutierrez and Rosalio Gutierrez;  grandson, David Alcorta; and great-granddaughter, Alizandra Jasso.

          Visitation for family and friends will be at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church followed by a Prayer Vigil at 6:00 P.M.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. celebrated by Rev. Don Hyatt, CSB.  Rite of Committal will follow at Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Serving as Casket Bearers will be Eugene Armijo, Chris Sedillo, Lee Hodges, Dustin Armijo, Jarrod Crespin, Delicia Ortega and Raiden Ortega.

    Mi mas sentido pesame. Perder un ser querido es muy dificile, pero espero que este palabras les da consuelo y la fuerza que necesitan. 2 Corintios 1:3, 4 nos dice: “Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, el Padre de tiernas misericordias y el Dios de todo consuelo, 4 que nos consuela en toda nuestra tribulación, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los [que se hallan] en cualquier clase de tribulación mediante el consuelo con que nosotros mismos estamos siendo consolados por Dios.” Si, nuestro bondadoso Dios puede ayudarnos en momentos asi. Tambien ha hecho la promesa SEGURA que van ha haber una resurrección aquí mismo sobre la tierra. ¡Que maravilloso sera de dar la bienvenida a los que von a resucitar!
