Mr. Cornish “Pete” Ward, 80

Mr. Cornish "Pete" Ward was born in Barney, Georgia on October 27, 1937 to the late Mrs. Wilma Ward Morrison.  He passed from his earthly life on March 13, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, Mr. Rufus Morrison, Sr., infant brother, Saulton Morrison and grandparents, Mr. Phillip Ward and Mrs. Malila Rhym Ward.

Pete accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Barney.

He was educated in Brooks County, GA, but left in 1954 with his grandparents and moved to Trenton, New Jersey where he attended Trenton Central High School.  He became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Trenton.  He retired from U. S. Steel in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.

He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Brown.  To this union one son was born.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Vincent Lamar Ward, Trenton, NJ; five sisters: Doris Williams Jones, (Woodrow), Valdosta, GA, Evelyn Morrison, Barney, GA, Ester Mobley, Virginia Beach, VA, Ruth Ward (David), Valdosta, GA, Gladys Simmons (John Richard),                               Swainsboro, GA; five brothers: Willie Ward (Lillian), Browns Mills, NJ, John Morrison (Lara), Morven, GA, Carson Morrison, Barney, GA, Rufus Morrison, Jr., (Cheryl), Melvin Morrison, Valdosta, GA; a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Barney, Georgia with Pastor Pernell Adams officiating.
