Mrs. Dorothy Mae Parkman, 81, of Prentiss, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her residence.  She is the daughter of the late Woodrow and Maybelle Loflin.  She is a member of Springhill M. B. Church. 

She was a Ancient Matron of Heroines of Jericho Court 495B; Brownie Troop #440 Leader; Girl Scout Troup #142 Leader; Harrison County Band Booster Member, and musician for over 40 years at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Progressiver Baptist Church, Gulfport, MS; She was also musician for Springhill Church, Prentiss, MS and Palestine Church, Oakvale, MS. 

Mrs. Parkman retired from Maybelle Manufacturing Company as a professional seamstress.  She attended Prentiss Institute and Jackson State University.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Springhill M. B. Church at 2pm.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by: husband, John L. Parkman of Prentiss, MS; sons, Jerry (Belveanna) Parkman of Gulfport, MS and Timothy (April) Parkman of Ocean Springs, MS; daughters, Linda (Calvin) Parkman-Lewis of Picayune, MS and Mary N. Parkman of Nashville, TN; grandchildren: 8; great-grandchildren: 5

Family hour will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home, 6-8pm and visitation Saturday at the church, 1-2pm.

    We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress."
