Elder Kenneth Wendell Ross

November 22, 1941 – May 12, 2018

Elder Kenneth W. Ross was given his wings of flight on Saturday, May 12, 2018 and set off on his final journey to join the company of saints who preceded him and bask permanently in the presence of the Lord.  Elder Ross was born November 22, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Alonzo Ross and Theodosia Taylor.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Eva M. Johnson and Francis Ross.

Elder Ross served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant for twenty years serving two tours in Vietnam, Germany and various assignments throughout the United States.

After serving in the military, his mission was to evangelize locally and worldwide telling men, women, and children about our Lord.  Elder Ross would say, “If God can save and deliver me, he can save anyone.” Under the leadership of Bishop John D. Husband, he was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ and went on to Pastor three churches, Hendersonville Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC, Church on the Rise Church of God in Christ, Decatur, GA and New Deliverance Church II, Marietta, GA.  Elder Ross made his calling and election sure, for he studied the Word zealously with passion and dedication. Oftentimes, God used him prophetically. Whether it was by teaching or preaching the Word of God with clarity and simplicity, lives were transformed.

Elder Kenneth W. Ross is survived by his wife Kathy L. Kelley Ross sharing twenty-nine years of blissful marriage.  Also surviving is a devoted and loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Annie L. Kelley; two daughters, Sharon Pipkins and Twinda Brown; son, Danterius (Tyffany) Kelley; four grandchildren, Terry Williams, Louis Chambers III, Torrey Chambers, and Tre’von Chambers; three great-grand children, Nya Chambers, Aaliyah Chambers and Isaiah Chambers; one sister, Theodosia Rawls (Jacksonville, FL); one brother, Gillis (Tarra) Taylor (Stafford, VA); four brothers-in-law Charles Johnson (Fayetteville, NC) Spencer (Dr. June) Kelley, Donald Kelley and Alfred Kelley; five sisters-in-law Shirley (Leroy) Jennings,Virginia (Robert) Thomas, Janet Graves and Stephanie (Steve) Davenport and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and sons and daughters in Christ.

We're so sorry about your loss. Please find comfort from the words found at 1 Corinthians 1:3, 4 which reads: "3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials" Yes, we can ask for help and rely on God. He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise. (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29). Be confident that this is SURE to happen because Isaiah 55:11 ensures us of this. Find out more online at JW.ORG
