        Betty Frances Watson Phillips was born June 12th, 1939 in York County, South Carolina. She passed from mortality to immortality Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 at her home in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Betty was the daughter of the late George A. and Louise Dulin Watson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marian Spencer and Joan Watson; brothers, Robert Earl and Roosevelt.

Betty joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Clover, South Carolina at an early age and she was a graduate of Roosevelt High School “Class of 1957”. She became a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Belmont, North Carolina after her marriage to James Hope Phillips where she served as a Deaconess for forty-six years.   Betty will be remembered for her great cooking.  She will be truly missed for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.


She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband for almost sixty years, James Hope Phillips; daughters, Lassaundra of Greenville, SC, Angela of Birmingham, AL, and Lisa of the home; son, Rodney (JaHae) of Savannah, GA;  sisters, Doris Watson and Barbett Thorn both of Gastonia, NC;  brother, James Watson of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; special cousin, Claretha Floyd; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Saturday, May 26, 2018 @ 1:00 P.M.

VISITATION:
The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to funeral.
(12:00 until 1:00 P.M.)

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
