Lanier Jones departed this life Wednesday, May 30, 2018. 

He was a native of Augusta, GA. He was the son of Gladys Jones Pelzer.

Lanier graduated from Josey High School in 1966. He was also a member of The United House of Prayer.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Jones Jr.

He is survived by three children: son, Stacey Lanier Jones, Augusta, GA; daughters, Phonecia Hodge, East Orange,NJ and Stephanie Smith, Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; Heaven Hodge, Allen Ralph, Anaya Smith, and Jacob Smith; mother, Gladys Jones Pelzer; one brother, James Jones(Geraldine); one sister, Betty Gonder; sisters-in-law, Mattie Jones; Partner Zina Mims, dear friend and former wife, Ann; God son, Zion Starke, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from United House of Prayer, 1269 Wrightsboro Road, Elder Wilcher officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. The remains will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

    We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29).
