Alice Moore Redd, 82, died June 2, 2018.  Funeral services will b held 2 p.m. Tuesday June 5, 2018 at Goodwill First Baptist Church, Madison, NC.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Alice Moore Redd was born April 6, 1936 to the late Arthur and Lucy Scales Moore.  She departed this life peacefully on June 2, 2018.  She was the 3rd of 13 children born.  Alice retired from Public Works after working for several years.  She was a devoted companion to Nathaniel Welch.  She loved and cared for him through his sickness even when her health was failing.  Alice took care of her family in so many generous ways.  Alice was a devoted member of Goodwill Baptist Church until her health begin to decline and even then her desire was to go hear the word of God.  On many occasions, she would say “If only I could go to church”.

She was also preceded in death by: her son, Calvin “Bud” Redd, Mary Scales, Savannah Brown, Lucy Joyce, Edward Moore, Henry Moore and Jim Willie Moore.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her only daughter; Peggy Strickland (Samuel),  sisters; Katie Settle, Shirley Wall, Christine Moore, Mary Frances Hairston, brothers; John R. Moore (Martha), William Moore (Tasha), brother-in-law; Craven Joyce, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of other relatives, friends and a very special friend, Mrs. Marie Hoover.

    Accept our heartfelt sympathy in your recent loss. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Nahum 1:7 Which reads: “Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of distress.
