My life Story

On October 3, 1959 God saw fit to give me life through the matrimony of Leon(Slick) and Juanita McCoy. In Jackson MS.

During the seasons of my life, I spent a number of years in Oakvale MS. Where I was educated in Jefferson Davis County School System. At the age of sixteen I moved to Hattiesburg, MS.

Later, I became a carpenter by trade, taught by the best God! Building and making things is what I loved to do, other than making my family and friends laugh. I never met a stranger.

I moved back to Oakvale MS where I remained until Saturday, January 13, 2018. “I LOVED LIFE, I WOULD NEVER SAY GOODBYE,” but God was ready for me.

At the present time my father Leon McCoy, my grandmothers Johnnie May McCoy and Larcie Lee McDonald and one son Terris (Duke) Turner are resting and waiting for the return of Christ.

From the union Leon and Juanita McCoy there were three children born, Deborah, Myself and Barbara. I have six brothers, Johnny, Leonard, Jerry, Andrae, LaDon and Tony. Two step sibling Bobby and Robert Hathorne. Seven children Lebaron Bourne, LaShelby Keone Bourne, Shatara Bourne, LaShelby McCoy, Joshua McCoy and Kodio Arrington. A life time special brother Ronald Moore, Special brother Leroy Shelton. Three aunts that’s close to my heart. Carolyn Batimon, Willie (Bill) Reed, and Lyn Baker. My uncle Charles McLaurin and my fishing buddy uncle Will Baker; six cousins that we grew up like brothers and sisters Larry, Jr. Bren, Terry, Nesey and Charlene. Two awesome nephews Marcus McCoy and Taurus Barnes. God -mother Rebecca Adams, God-father Charley Jackson. Eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. A host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.

Miss me for only a little while, cry if you must, but let me go. Don’t waste your time living sad because I am gone. Rejoice because there is no more pain, no more worries, I am at rest and I hope to see you again…. I LOVE LIFE……Sherbett
