Lena Mae Jones, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Jones Allen and the late Crinnie Allen, was born on June 30, 1952, in Palmer Springs, VA.  She entered eternal rest on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Montefiore Medical Center, Mt. Vernon, NY.

Lena attended Mecklenburg County, VA schools and after completing her studies, moved to Philadelphia, PA.  After a short time there, she moved to Mt. Vernon, NY.  She was employed with Clarex Manufacturing for over 25 years.  Then she went to work at Mt. Vernon Health Center where she later retired.  She was an active and outgoing person and was no stranger to hard work.    (Beautiful smile)

Lena was an active member at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church, Mt. Vernon, NY where she was  a ministry class leader.  In spite of encountering and fighting her illnesses, her faith never wavered, for she loved the Lord.  She found strength for as long as she could to check on her mother residing in Wartburg Nursing Home.

Lena enjoyed traveling and staying connected to her family (loved talking on the phone).  She particularly loved coming back to Palmer Springs, VA to be with her family and friends. Some of her best times were spent in the country at summer cookouts that included her hand at the card game of Spades.  Lena enjoyed cooking and having friends over to partake in the feast.

Lena leaves with a lifetime of treasured memories:  her mother, Elizabeth Jones Allen of Mt. Vernon, NY; three sons, Raymond Wendell Jones (Athena) of  Hiram, GA, Ben Stevenson (Sheila) of Stafford, VA, Jerome Jones (Jenora) of Poconos, PA;  two sisters, Mary  H. Allen of N. Chesterfield, VA, Diane Allen of Mt. Vernon, NY; three brothers, Crinnie G. Allen (Linda) of Garner, NC, Leroy Allen (Rosalyn) of Palmer Springs, VA, and Marvin Allen (Christine)  of Palmer Springs, VA;  eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
