“I fought a good fight, I finished my course, I kept the faith.”
It is Written in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “To everything there is a season, and a
time for every purpose under the Heavens,” and as such, Reverend Dr. Louis
Edward Lumzy, the beloved Pastor, devoted servant of God and spiritual
leader departed this earth on August 2, 2018 to rest eternally with his
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

Reverend Louis Edward Lumzy’s life journey began November 10, 1944 in Marion County. He was the youngest of ten children born to K.C. and Ella Leah Abrams-Lumzy. He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents and seven siblings. He received his formal education from the Marion Central High School in Columbia, Mississippi.

Never a stranger to hard     work, the young Lumzy started working at General Motors as a Truck Driver and worked with this company for eighteen Years. Lumzy was also a successful entrepreneur, who owned and operated several businesses in the state of Mississippi.

In 1982, Lumzy accepted his calling to the ministry after much prayer. He rose from humble beginning to become a major spiritual icon for many in his community and throughout the state of Mississippi and Louisiana. He was led by the spirit to pastor St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary, Mississippi and St. Louis Missionary Baptist Church where he faithfully served for several years. During his tenure at the church these
Churches, he developed a desire for upward mobility and decided to further his education in theology. Rev. Lumzy enrolled in Mississippi Baptist Seminary in Hattiesburg, Mississippi under the direction of Pastor Ralph Woullard, President.

After eight years, the holy spirit led Reverend Lumzy to pastor the Pentecost Baptist Church in Slidell, Louisiana, where he was blessed with awesome success in spiritual growth. This assignment from God opened many other opportunities which included serving as President of the Louisiana State Conventions. President of St. Tammany Parish Ministries Alliance; and Former Secretary and Treasurer of Home Mission Board for the National Baptist Convention of America. As his journey continued, Rev. Lumzy was led by the holy sprite to answer the call to become the pastor of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Prentiss, Mississippi from December of 1997 to June of 2010. (God increased his territory).

Reverend Lumzy continued to have the desire for more knowledge, therefore he enrolled in A.P. Clay Bible College in New Orleans, Louisiana where he graduated with a bachelor’s Degree in Divinity. He received Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Divinity from United Theological Seminary of Monroe, Louisiana and A.P. Clay Bible College of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Lumzy, a visionary leader, faithfully served and followed the Lord for the duration of his life.

He also served as Vice President of Lamar Educational Enhancement Program, Inc. on the Board of Directors from 1999-2018. He believed “it takes a village to raise a child.

In 2007, Dr. Lumzy was involved in a very serious automobile accident, but the accident never wavered his faith in God. He continued to give thanks and praises to his Lord and Savior. He continuously preached at every opportunity, spreading God’s word and inspiring others to trust God regardless the condition you find yourself in. He was the Founder of Fellowship of Christ Church and served as Pastor until he retired in 2015.
Dr. Lumzy’s zeal for the Lord was further ignited motivating him to pastor the Greater Faith Ministry after retirement until his health failed him.

To cherish his memories and honor his legacy, he leaves daughter Kim Lumzy of Shreveport, LA; two sons: Pastor Michael (Jeannie) Smith of Jackson, MS and Dr. S.F. (Jazmonique L.) Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
