DEACON WILLIAM THOMAS WALKER, son of the late Arthur Earl and the late Elizabeth Rainey Walker, was born January 21, 1944 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life August 3, 2018 in The Hundley Center, South Hill, VA.  A brother- Earl Walker preceded him in death in 2001.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Lambert’s Chapel RZUA Church under the pastorship of the late Reverend William Thompson.  He was also a member of the Sunday School.

William attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and later went to Culinary School in Williamsburg, VA.

In 1967 he married Carrie Tait and to this union a daughter, Veronica was born.

William was employed in NJ by Saint Francis Transo Envelope as a “Die Cutter” for eight years and then Saint Francis Hospital as a Male Nurses’ Assistant for also eight years.

Deacon Walker later returned home to South Hill and reaffirmed his membership with Lambert’s Chapel RZUA Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon.

William was employed by Community Memorial Hospital as a Nurses’ Assistant and lastly at Danville Memorial Hospital, Danville, VA until his retirement.

In the early 1990’s he married Mae Walker and to this union a son, Makale, was born and he was blessed with five other sons to this union.

William leaves to cherish a daughter- Veronica (Mark) Shepard, South Plainfield, NJ; six sons- Mikale Walker, Brodnax, VA; Arlton (Linda) Walker, South Hill, VA; Carlton (Elaine), Breaumond, Fredrick, and Timothy Walker, all of Brodnax, VA;  two grandchildren- Demarcus and Zyane Shepard; one sister- Sarah Frances (Jarrious) Lassiter, South Hill, VA; one brother- Alvin C. (Julia) Walker, South Hill, VA; sister-in-law, Shirley Walker, South Hill, VA; devoted friend- Winford “Doc” Piercy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
