MRS. SARAH TERRY CHAMP TINSLEY, daughter of the late Tommy N. Alexander and Mary Lucy Thorne Alexander was born February 13, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life August 9, 2018 in VCU-MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Jerusalem United Church of Christ and in earlier years she served as an Usher.

Sarah attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools.  She was employed by Perdue Company in Soul City, NC for many years.

Sarah was married to the late John Terry and to this union they were blessed with two sons.  She later married the late Frank Champ.  In the year of 2010 she married John Tinsley.

In her spare time she loved to work in her garden, fishing, and being with family and friends.

Sarah leaves to mourn  her husband-  John Tinsley of the home; two sons- Stacey Terry (Helen), Brodnax, VA and Brian Terry, Boydton, VA; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; Godchild- “Tutie” Alemida Seward; 13 sisters- Aramita Bell, Pearl Whitfield, Bertha Burchett, Bessie Alexander, Mary Davis, Janet Baskerville, Shirley Merritt, Nancy Alston, Beatrice Alexander, Annette Alexander, Frances Watkins, Connie Russell, and Shirley Abdullah; seven brothers- Charles Tisdale (Mary), Jimmy Earl (Mary) Tisdale, Edward (Ellen) Alexander, William Alexander, Bobby (Barbara) Alexander, Jamie (Liza) Alexander and Robert (Maria) Alexander;  three aunts, one uncle, devoted friends- Freedonia Gilchrest and Betty Lou Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    We're sorry to hear about your recent loss. May you find strength from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
