Mrs. Grace Williams Thompson
was born in South Hill, VA to the proud parents of the late Charlie Williams and Everline Williams-Jones on April 29, 1951 and departed this life September 2, 2018 in New York.  She was the ninth of ten children.  Grace was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Cash, and a brother, McKennly Williams.

Grace graduated from East End High School in 1969 and relocated to New York City where she attended Queensboro Community and John Jay College.

Grace met James while working at Automatic Auto Parts in which later resulted in their nuptials on September 4, 1970.  Three daughters came from this union.

At an early age Grace was baptized and received Christ as her personal savior at Temple Gate RZUA Church of South Hill, VA.  Grace later became a member of the St. Albans Baptist Church.  She attended St. Albans for over 20 years and enjoyed attending Bible Study and Sunday service regularly.

Grace was employed with the NYS Department of Corrections.  She worked as a secretary in the Inspector General’s office.  Grace retired in 2015 after 22 years of service.

Grace was well known for her calm demeanor.  Her way of smiling, love, and gentle care was infectious.  Family was extremely important to her.  Her grandchildren were definitely one of her softest spots.  She loved showing their pictures and retelling stories about spending time with them.

Grace leaves to cherish sweet memories her husband- James Thompson; three daughters- Robbin Thompson, Tawana Patterson, Sakina Thompson; four grandchildren- Randall, Jerome Jr., Heaven, and Robert II; two sons-in-law, Robert and Jerome; seven sisters- Elizabeth, Ann, Rosa, Lucy, Pearl, Sarah, and Gloria; one brother- Solomon; five brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
