Mr. BRUCE VIVIAN VALENTINE, son of Barbara Boyd Valentine and the late Willie Lee Valentine, Sr. was born May 1, 1965 in Mecklenburg County, VA.  On Friday, September 7, 2018, he entered into eternal rest at his home in Midlothian, VA.

At an early age he was baptized and attended Harper’s Temple Apostolic Church, Clarksville, VA. Bruce also attended St. Stephens RZUA Church.  He had a steadfast belief and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  It was that faith that strengthened him during his illness.

Bruce was a graduate of Park View Senior High School, South Hill, VA Class of 1983.  He later relocated to Richmond and began his career in construction and welding, and later in facilities management.  He was employed by Target for many years until his health began to fail.

Bruce was married to Audrey Crenshaw in 2006.

“Nook” as he was affectionately called, was a true lover of life; he thoroughly enjoyed fishing, listening to music, his favorite artist was Luther Vandross, and entertaining with family and friends.  He was filled with a loving-kindness that was unconditional and a contagious laugh that would brighten up your day.

“Nook” was known as the family handyman and could fix and repair anything except the doors, because he was left handed.

“Nook” loved cooking, especially breakfast, but most of all he loved eating his Mom’s good home cooked meals.  He also was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football, the Washington Redskins and wrestling.

“Nook” was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle who was kind, loving, and loyal.  As we look through the pages of his life, we remember the times we shared, his gentle smile, his gentle touch, his laughter, his kind spirit and generous heart; all of which shall be missed.

“Nook” was the devoted father of Alanya and Alisha Valentine of Petersburg, VA; adoring grandfather of Jayden and Tia Rankin; beloved son of Barbara Boyd Valentine of Brodnax, VA; loving brother of Willie Jr. (Shantelle) Valentine; Nannie (William) Brooks, Eunice Johnson, Vaughan (Marjorie) Valentine, Odessa (Randy) Coleman, Valencia Valentine (Lewis), and Mary Smith (LaRicky); four aunts- Mary Harris, Catherine Hawkins, Wilhemenia (Nandor) Standi and Judy King; two uncles- Max “Moon” Boyd and Caldwell “Nick” Boyd; best friend of Thomas “Pookie” Kersey, South Hill, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our warmest sympathies goes to you and yours in these difficult moments. May you find strength from the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 3 Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God. What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11). Can you see yourself welcoming back to life your loved ones? What a joy it will bring all of us. You can go online to JW.ORG and find out more about this resurrection.
