Obituary

Ruby Kate McGruder

Born December 1, 1944 in a small town called Pine Mountain, Ga., to the late Mozell McGruder (Williams) and Henry McGruder. Ruby was the 4th of nine children.

Her early life was spent in Pine Mountain as a young child.

Later on Ruby decided to move to Atlanta Ga. as she wanted to experience life in the city.

Ruby worked at Kodak Corporation for many years, but she eventually started her own cleaning business because she wanted more freedom to do what she wanted. She was a dedicated business owner which spanned over 40 plus years and many close friendships were created through her business.

Ruby was a proud member of Salem Bible Church for close to 50 years. Salem Bible Church would eventually become the focal point in her life as she loved the pastor and members. Ruby was an avid fisher who would sit on the lake all day. She was a great cook and an even better baker. Her cakes became famous throughout the family and she baked ever chance she got. Ruby was a fantastic grandmother and loved to visit Chicago to spend time with her grandkids. She was also an avid gardener and planted a lot of vegetables every year…a trait she picked up from her mother (Mozell). Ruby had a very loving spirit who was active in the church and the community. Her biggest passion was traveling all around the globe living life to its fullest. She carried the love of god with her everyday. She shared her faith with every word and deed she set out. She loved showing love to people and lived her life on 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 –

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does no envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Ruby McGruder peacefully departed this life on September 21st, 2018. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory one son, Efrem McGruder (Natasha) and their two sons, Joshua and Logan McGruder; two brothers, Eddie Lee McGruder (Zelma), Bishop McGruder, and four sisters, Lucile McGruder, Laura Mae Tucker (George), Gloria Price (Randy) and Catherine McGruder, two brothers who preceded her in death Willie Steven Williams and Robert Lewis McGruder and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

My deepest sympathies to the McGruder family. I'm so sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one is a painful experience. Our Heavenly Father is well aware of the pain you're feeling. He promises in His Word, the Bible, to remove death, pain, and suffering. (Revelation 21:3,4). Isaiah 25:8a says, "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces." We know that Almighty God has not only the power to remove death, but also yearns to do so. Until that time, may you find comfort in the resurrection hope, a promise that one day soon we will be reunited with our loved ones who have died. (John 5:28,29)

From personal experience, I know that losing a dear friend or relative in death is the hardest thing we have to deal with. At such a difficult time, we need loving support and encouragement. Revelation 21:4 "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” For additional comfort, please visit: https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&docid=502014163&srcid=share

My deepest condolences to all the love ones of the dearly departed. The words found at 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 3 and 4 were especially comforting to me and my family during the loss of our parents and dear loved ones. It says, "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with comfort that we receive from God." May these words strengthen you too.
