A.Z. (Agey) Toney was born July 28, 1912 to the late Hue and Cynthia Toney in Foxworth, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age. At the age of 30 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served for three years. He later met and married Gertrude Buckley on November 13, 1948; to this union they were blessed with five children; one son Jimmy Lee whom preceded him in death at birth.
4 daughters; Mary Hathorn, Georgia (Jimmy) Luter, Annie Hammond, all of Columbia, MS, Diane Hayden from New Brunswick, NJ.

He worked at New Orleans Furniture Factory in the 1960’s, and was there for 20 years. He also was a farmer. He farmed for many years and he had a garden all of his life. He planted vegetables and fruit trees in his yard. He loved his garden and he was a hard worker. In 1990, he joined South Columbia Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was a faithful member.

He and his wife were married for 60 years and she preceded him in death in November 2008. After his health failed him and he could no longer care for himself he moved in with his youngest daughter and there he continued to live until the Lord called him home. He was a man that enjoyed life and his family. He was a lovable person.

He leaves to cherish his memories; 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
