Obituary

Shirley (Lee) Cooper-Johnson was born on March 31, 1970 Shirley Johnson and Sarah (Cooper) Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ.

At an early age Lee was baptized and accepted Jesus as his savior at Deliverance Prayer Revival Tabernacle, under the leadership of Pastor Eloise Bellamy in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Lee moved to Columbia, MS in 1982 when his family relocated from New Brunswick, New Jersey, upon their arrival in Columbia they joined John the Baptist Church. Lee attended East Marion and Columbia High School upon leaving school, Lee started working at Orleans Furniture during this time Lee joined the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ.

For many years Lee sang with many different choirs and groups, but his main love was singing with his family, The Johnson Singers, which include his Mother, 2 Brothers and his Sister and then years later him and his brothers started “The Johnson Brother”.

In 2005, his brother, Pastor Greg Johnson, Planted A Ministry Truth and Deliverance Ministries, where Lee became the Musician and then joined the church until his passing.

He was preceded in Death by his Parents, Shirley and Sarah Johnson, three brothers, Christopher Cooper, Kenneth Cooper, and Tyrone Johnson; one son, Ka’Darius Todd. 

Shirley (Lee) leaves to cherish his memories: A Special Friend, Nancy Robinson, Columbia, MS; four sons, Scory Cooper, Tabarious (Nyke)Jefferson, Jermal (Myesha) Jefferson, Le’anta Conerly; four daughters, Angeleak Jefferson, Kenyatta Cooper, Pebbles Cooper, Sarah Conerly, all of Columbia, MS four other children that Lee raised as his own, Eddie Todd Jr., R’Kell Todd, Skylar Wilks, Frinjala Wilks; five brothers, Jim Earl Johnson, Oakland, CA; Eugene Cooper, Hattiesburg, MS, Jerry (Greta) Johnson, Trenton, NJ, Jim (Lisa) Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ, Pastor Greg (Chrissy) Johnson, Hattiesburg, MS, six sisters, Wanda Burgess, New Brunswick, NJ, Shirleen Johnson, Beverly Johnson, both of Oakland, CA, Debra (Jeffrey, Sr) Reynolds, Shirley Hammond both of Hattiesburg, MS, Lisa (Jerome) Johnson, Gulfport, MS, 16 grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

    We're sorry to hear about your recent loss. May you find strength from the words of Philippians 4:13 which says: "For all things I have the strength through the one who gives me power." What a loving God who cares about each one of us. He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
