Gwendolyn Verdel Stephens-Massey
December 17, 1931 - November 1, 2018

Columbus, GA- Mrs. Gwendolyn Massey 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed Thursday, November 1, 2018 at St Francis Hospital, Funeral services will be 12:00Noon Friday, November 9, 2018 at M.L.Harris United Methodist Church, 4601 Old Cusseta Road with the Pastor Reverend Donald Mathis officiating.

Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 1605 3rd Avenue, Columbus, 706-327-9293. Visitation will today, Thursday November 8, 2018 from 1:00PM-6:00PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Massey was born December 17, 1931 in Lumberton, NC, daughter of the late Lawrence Simuel Stephens, Sr. and Augusta Rickett Stephens. She graduated from J.H. Hayswood High School and completed higher education at Fayetteville State University obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and pursued to teach in Rayford, Durham, Robertson and nearby counties in North Carolina, Wetumpka, AL, Tuskegee, AL and Columbus, GA. She became a charter member of Lambda Eta Zeta Phi Beta Sigma Sorority, INC, Lumberton, NC and was active for some years in Columbus, GA. Mrs. Massey leaves to cherish her memories her two devoted daughters, Roslyn Elise Massey and Kathleen Junel Massey both of Columbus, GA; special twin sons, Gregory Kenneth Massey, Dry Branch, GA and David Bernard Massey, Columbus, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and many dear friends.
