Deacon John McFarland
May 26, 1932-January 12, 2019

Hamilton, GA- John McFarland 86, of Hamilton, Georgia passed Saturday, January 12, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Friendship Baptist Church, 101 Friendship Street, Hamilton, Georgia with Reverend Lacoya D. Day, Pastor, officiating according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 1605 3rd Avenue, Columbus, 706-327-9293. Visitation will be today, Friday, January 18, 2019 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the funeral home. Mr. McFarland was born May 26, 1932 in Hamilton, Georgia to the union of the late Earnest and Thelma Hudson McFarland. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church from the age of 10, serving on the Deacons Board, The Senior and Male Choirs and the Finance Committee. He was retired from Interface Flooring in LaGrange, GA, and had over 29 years of employment with Cagle's Poultry in Pine Mountain Valley, GA. While working 3rd shift at Interface, John would cut and haul pulpwood during the day to add extra income for his family, this he did for over 20 years. Over the last 12 years he worked as a Bailiff at the Harris County Court House for the Sheriff Department until his death. He leaves to cherish his memories is faithful and devoted wife of 66 years, Christine McFarland, Hamilton, GA; two sons, Steven(Michelle)McFarland, Grovetown, GA and Kevin(Rosa)McFarland, Converse, TX; daughter in law, Nuria McFarland, Madrid, Spain; five grandchildren, Brittani M. McFarland, Grand Prairie, TX, John C. McFarland, Madrid, Spain, Kevon J. McFarland, Converse, TX, Serena D. McFarland, Houston, TX and Trinity D. McFarland, Converse TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear and loving friends.

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
