    Dear Portia and the Simmons Family, Mr. Pat Simmons was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. I always enjoyed and learned something when I was in his presence. He encouraged me to always do my best. I regret that I can not be with you but know that you are in my prayers. Be encourage and I pray we all be together again some sweet day.

    Our prayers are with you now and always. May God give you comfort and sweet memories. Carl and I (Beverly) worked together many years at Goodyear Engineered Fabrics. I would always tell his beautiful wife Martha how much she look like Gladys Knight of Gladys knight & The Pips. They both will never be forgotten. God bless

Funeral service for Mr. Carl “ Pat” Simmons, age 67, of Cedartown, will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Eastview Baptist Church, Cedartown, Pastor Hope Smith and other ministers officiating.  Interment will follow at Polk Memory Gardens.

He leaves to cherish, one daughter, "daddy's girl," Portia B. Simmons-Holmes (son-in-law, Dexter F. Holmes, Sr.); a beautiful granddaughter, Kortney Chaunt'el Johnnson of Cedartown, Georgia; a loving and devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Lurethia Holmes of Waynesboro, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Bernice H. Williams (Cornelious) of Atlanta, Georgia and Shirley A. Holmes of Waynesboro, Georgia; three brothers-in-law, Robert C. Holmes (Queen), Carlton W. Holmes (Janice), and Jesse E. Holmes (Carrie) all of Waynesboro, Georgia; cousins (Stanley Chivers, Michael Chivers, Cynthia Gallant, Judy Barton, Brenda Prior, Catherine Chivers, Gerald Barton, James Chivers, Joyce Holmes, Collene Ammons, and Lynn Robinson) who all grew up with him as brothers and sisters; and a host of other family members and friends.
