    Joe will be missed so much.. He was such a hard worker and a wonderful friend..always had a smile on his face and in the 6 years we worked together.. I never saw him angry (Lord knows he had plenty to be angry about working at Meggitt).  Joe you are at peace now!!! Love you

Mr. Joe Hood of Cedartown transitioned on May 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.  The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Cedar Lake Christain Center, 1890 Rome Hwy., Cedartown, Bishop David Huskins, Pastor and Rev. Lewis D. Clark, Eulogist.  His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery.

Mr. Joe Henry Hood was born July 13, 1952 to Mrs. Atner Mae Hood and the late Charlie Fred Hood.  He attended Cedartown High School.  Mr. Joe Hood was devoted to his wife, Mrs. Chanel Battle Hood.  They were married for eight years (together 20 years).  He was employed by Zartic Frozen Goods of Cedartown until 2007.  He became an employee of Meggitt Composites of Rockmart, Georgia where he remained until his death.  Joe was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Charlie Fred Hood and his grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Height.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Chanel Battle Hood; loving children, his daughter, Mrs. Tara (Deandre) Hunter; sons: Mr. Joseph (Kay) Penson, Mr. Michael J. Hood (a special friend, Keisha Moore), a stepson Anthony Penson (Michelle Cooper) of Cedartown, Georgia; five sisters:  Mrs. Evelyn (Bobby) Dorsey, Mrs. Janell (Tommy) Jones, Mrs. Fannie (Kenneth) Calhoun, Mrs. Sybil (Clem) Gibbons, Mrs. Patricia (Sam) Hood, all of Cedartown, Georgia; two brothers:  Mr. James (Edna) Hood of Cedartown, Georgia and Mr. Donnie Ray Nation of Rockmart, Georgia; twenty grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  Calvin & Reggie Dorsey and a very dear friend, Preston Baily; brothers-in-law:  Mr. Darrell (Mary) Battle, Rodney (Shelly) Battle, Todd (Teresa) Battle, Stan Battle (deceased); sisters-in-law:  Rhonda (Bobby) Stocks, Cathy (Bruce) Nation and Stephanie Battle.
