BOLIGEE | Alex Levi Crawford, Jr., age 66, of Boligee, died Aug. 10, 2014, at Greene County Hospital. Services will be 12 noon Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor John C. Glass, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford Cemetery with Gandy Funeral Home of Eutaw directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Crawford, Sr. and mother, Viola M. Crawford.

Survivors include his wife, Alfretta Collins Crawford; daughters, Rosalynn Crawford-McKendall, D.D.S. (Keith) and Aldrienne V. Crawford; son, Alex L. Crawford, III; sisters, Cynthia Crawford Brown and Maxine Crawford Rainey; and grandchild, Aden Christopher Crawford.

A Life Well Lived – a life filled with love for his family, his fellowman, his church, and his God; joy; and a penchant for hard work. He was a very versatile and skillful church worker throughout his life at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Boligee, Alabama. He sang in the church choirs, was an usher, a trustee, Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer, and chair of the deacon board.

Deacon Crawford graduated from the Greene County Training School in 1965. He received his BA from MVSU in 1968, MA in 1974 and a Class AA Principal and Superintendent Certification from UA. His work experiences-Sumter County Opportunity Head Start, Botelor HS, Birdine Jr. HS, Tuskegee Outreach Program Job Developer, Sumter County BOE CTE Director, and Bell-Brown CTC Director. He retired in June 2003 to pursue his love of farming. 

His professional and civic affiliations included various county, state, and national organizations. Also, he was a member of the Greene County Equalization Board and Cattlemen's Association.

He will live forever in the lives of his family and all who knew him.
