Services are Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Guiding Light COGIC in Lexington, MS.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

Our beloved brother Bennie Smith was born in Holmes County on October 31, 1966. He was the fifth of 17 children, one being his twin. He departed his life on August 11, 2014 at his home. 

Bro. Bennie accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and when he moved back to Lexington, MS, he united with Quinn Chapel 
A. M. E. Church where he was a faithful member.

He graduated May 30, 1987 from Carvey High School in New Orleans, LA.

He is preceded in death by his twin who died at 5 months of age, his sister; Dianna Reaves, and brother; Elbert E. Smith, and he was dearly loved by the late Roosevelt Reaves.

He leaves behind to cherish his life, his loving wife; Elizabeth (Jones) Smith, and 4 wonderful children; Kennie, Bennie, Jr., Anthony, Christina, and his loving mother and father; Rosie L. Cobbins and Robert L. Smith, his grandmother; Lillie M. Carson, 7 sisters; Lillie, Brenda, Anita, Katina (Lorenzo) Williams, Dedra, Christine, and Latrina. 5 brothers; Bobby, Melvin, Fredrick (Late Sis-in-law) Cheryl CoCo Reaves, Derrick (Ashley), Willie (Tina), and a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

We are sad within our memories, lonely are our hearts today, for the one we love so dearly, has forever been called away. We think of him in silence. No one may see him weep, but many silent tears are shed when others are asleep
