Mr. Davis' services were held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Sinai M. B. Church in Pickens, MS.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me a day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.                                                                                                                                                                  2 Timothy 4: 7-8
A time to be born…

George Davis was born to Lela Coleman Gibson and Joseph (Breaksack) Davis on March 28, 1933, in the Lexington (Franklin Community), whom both his mother and father preceded him in death.
George met and united in holy matrimony in 1950 to Josephine Williams-Davis. Their union was blessed with three lovely children: Robert S., Shirley, and Barbara Ann Davis. Barbara Ann preceded him in death on June 11, 2009.
Early in life George confessed his hope in Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. He attended the Little Red School in Pickens, Mississippi.
George worked at Bradley’s Washfountain as a machinist in Milwaukee, WI, for over 40 years until he retired. After retiring he relocated back to Lexington, MS. He had a passion for hunting and fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Robert S. Davis of Milwaukee, WI; one daughter; Shirley Ann Davis Whitfield, of Milwaukee, WI: nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren; one highly favored nephew; David Lee (Wolf) Travis of Lexington, MS; five nephews; Clemon, Jerome, John, and Jeffrey Drain, all of California; and Roy Tunis of Texas; one niece; Bettye Johnson, of Toledo, Ohio: one special friend; John Neely Harrington, Chicago, IL: a host of cousins, and friends. Preceding him in death: Lela C. Gibson (mother), Joseph (Breaksack) Davis (father), one daughter; Barbara Ann Davis; two brothers: Clemon Johnson, of Chicago, IL, Joshua Gibson, of Milwaukee, WI: and two sisters: Betola Drain, of Oakland, California, and Olivia Travis, of Lexington, MS.
