Life Reflections

Nelson Williams Sr., better known as “Pop” was born December 12, 1943 in Lexington, MS to SC and Lula Williams. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Clementine Jordan Williams, his parents Lula and S. C. Williams, three brothers; Robert Charles, Arthur, and Willie Earl, three sisters; Lula Mae, Melvina, and Rebecca, and one son LaVonta Omar “Joe Anderson.

Nelson “Pop” Williams Sr. was called to eternal rest on November 4, 2014 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Nelson was educated at Mt. Olive School in Lexington, MS (Acona Community). He met and married Clementine Jorday on May 18, 1964, and then journeyed to St. Louis, MO. To their union five children were born and he reared six children.

After moving to St. Louis, MO, Nelson was a Bus Driver for a short period of time and worked at the Car Wash. In 1965, Nelson started Trucking for Kroger until he moved back to Lexington, MS in 1989. He belong to a social club called the Black Tornadoes BTS Express and Three Diamonds. He began working for J. J. Ferguson until he became ill.

Nelson was one who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Anyone who knew him knew that if he wasn’t fishing, he was hunting. He stayed true to his country roots. He loved to sing and play the guitar while listening to his blues. Pop always had a smile on his face and always helped whenever he could. There was never a dull moment when Pop was around.

He leaves to cherish his memories sis loving children; DeEtta Williams of Lexington, MS, Jeanetta Williams of Waterloo, IA, DeAnna Williams and Kevin (LaTonya) Williams of St. Louis, MO, Nelson (Calechus) Williams Jr of St. Louis, MO, Loretta (Jerome) Baskin of St. Louis, MO, twenty-five grandchildren; Raeshek (Riffina) Williams, Anthony (Dianna) Williams, Alicia Williams, Andria (Khalil) Roundtree, Romika (Antoine) Love, Natasha Triplett, Nelson Williams III, Romel Williams, Purvis Williams, Brianna Williams, Destiny Williams, Xavier Hammond, Emrey Pettis-Williams, Ke’lana Williams, Kevin Williams Jr., Khaliah Roundtree, Khalil Roundtree, Miona, Torrence, Deondre, Kimberly, and Connie Morris, twenty-two great-grandchildren; Jaylin “Lil Ole Dude” McQueen, Jania Love, Jayden Love, Antoine Love Jr., Amaya Williams, Anthony Williams Jr., Davinna Boyd, Triniti Williams, Aubrey Williams, Iyuana, Amari, Deondria, Kedarius, Devin, DeMarion, Deshaaunna, Deandriunna, Kyronn, Kaylan, Camery, Caellum, Cassia Morris, three brothers; S. C. (Callie) Williams, Waterloo, IA, Walter Williams and Joe Eddie (Shannon) of Lexington, MS, two sisters; Dora Hibbler of Lexington, MS and Annette Smith (Kevin) of New Orleans, LA, three very special cousins; Mack Ollie Meeks, CJ Rand, and Charlie Earl Meeks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
