Aqeel Mahdee Hassan born as Kenneth Charles Blankumsee, son of the late Willie James Blankumsee and Phoenis Blankumsee. Aqeel was born in Waco, Texas on March 17, 1951. He attended Pinevale High School, graduating in 1969, where he was the drum section leader of the Pinevale Marching Tigers. He continued his education at Bethune Cookman College (HBCU) where he also played drums in the Bethune Cookman College Marching Wildcats Band. He had a deep passion and love for the music such as Jazz and Classical. He was a master craftsman at Regal Marine of Valdosta, Georgia. The Lord called him home on January 17, 2015.

He leaves to mourn a loving mother Phoenis Blankumsee of Hahira, Georgia; three sons and one daughter; Kenneth Charles Blankumsee, Jr (Serena) of Edgewater, Florida, Abdul-Aziz Ibn Aqeel Hassan (Docia) of Chicago, Illinois, Suni Dawud Ibn Aqeel Hassan and Nubia Kilolo Bent Aqeel Hassan of Manhattan, New York, three grandchildren; one brother, Lawton Gregory Blankumsee (Rowena) of Quitman, Georgia; five sisters, Sharon Lane of Hahira, Georgia, Debra Miller and Lesa Blankumsee  both of Valdosta, Georgia, Sonja Jenkins of Lake Park, Georgia and Donna Mayo (Benjamin) of San Antonio, Texas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. His father and four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral Service for Mr. Kenneth Charles Blankumsee (Aqeel Hassan) will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at River Street Church of Christ, Valdosta, Georgia.

Public Viewing: 12:00-9:00 PM - Thursday, January 22, 2014 and Family Visitation: 6:00-7:00 pm in the BTW Funeral Services Chapel.
