Bessie Smith Sipplen-Wade was born September 7, 1934 in Brooks County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Moses and Mae Arnold Smith. Bessie attended Liberty School in Brooks County, Georgia. She was married to Sherman Sipplen in 1947. This union produced eight children. On September 8, 1991, Bessie married Elijah M. Wade, with whom she enjoyed farming until their retirement.

Bessie was a dedicated woman with an outstanding work ethic. She enjoyed farming, cooking and sewing for her family. She loved to fish with her sisters and friends. Bessie was a dedicated member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Most important in Bessie’s life was her ability to be there for her family. She was truly the cornerstone. 

On Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at her home in Quitman, Georgia, Bessie was called home by God and submitted to his divine will! She is resting eternally with the Lord. 

She was preceded in death by her siblings;  Rosa Bell Smith, Moses Smith, Sampson Smith, Leroy Smith, Fletcher Smith, David Smith, Aubrey Smith, Mary Davis and Pearlie Mae Smith

He leaves to cherish her memory; Husband, Elijah M. Wade, Quitman, GA; Children, Junior C. Sipplen (Denise), Port St. John, FL, Bessie S. McKithen (Norman), Trenton, NJ, Mary S. Bennett, Valdosta, GA, Robert Sipplen, Thomasville, GA, Linda Sipplen Linder, Quitman, GA, Juanita Sipplen, Valdosta, GA and Eddie M. Sipplen, (Pam), Akron, OH; 24 Grandchildren; 31 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Lorene Miles, Quitman, GA; Brother, John Lee Smith, Quitman, GA; Sisters-in-law, Marie Smith, Tampa, FL, Jewel Smith, Fort Meyers, FL, Mae Bell Smith, Delray Beach, FL, Rose Smith, New Jersey;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Bessie S. Wade will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Shumate Street Church of Christ, Quitman, Georgia.

Public Viewing: 1:00-8:00 PM - Saturday, April 25, 2014 and Family Visitation: 4:00-6:00 pm in the BTW Funeral Services Chapel.
