Funeral services for Hammond Lee, 90, of 20867 Solomon Blatt Avenue, Blackville, SC, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Reverend John Holston officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Memorial Park Barnwell, SC.

On October 2, 1925, the union of Hammond Lee, Sr. and Sadie Lee welcomed the birth of their oldest son, Hammond Lee, Jr. in Blackville, South Carolina.

Hammond received his formal education through the South Carolina school system. As a young man, Hammond moved to New York where he lived for many years. He worked as a baggage handler at JFK Airport before retiring.

After retirement, Hammond returned home to Blackville. He loved serving the Lord and was an active member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

On Monday, July 20, 2015, after a long illness, God saw him tiring and saw fit to call him home to rest.

Hammond leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving wife, Beatrice “Bea” Lee; his daughter, Elizabeth Reid; his sons: Robert (Shermineda) Lee, Gregory (Brenda) Lee and Ezelle (Wendy) Wooden; his brother, Robert Lee; his sisters: Lourenia Williams and Margie Harris; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.

Friends may call at his residence and at the funeral home.
