Gabriel Monds, Sr. the youngest son of the late Henry and Sallie Baker-Monds was born January 24, 1933 in Nankin, Georgia. Most people knew him as “Gable”. He was an employee of Georgia Pacific in Cross City, FL until retirement in 1996. 

Gable accepted Christ at an early age at Monument Baptist Church. He became a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church during his later age. He eventually joined Elam Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health failed. He was a fun person, who loved and enjoyed singing. Throughout his life he sang and was a member of various quartet groups and choirs. The Voice of Triumph was the last group he sang with.

He departed this life on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Georgia . 

Gable was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sallie Monds. A special Dad, Hiram Davis; Two Brothers, Earl and Henry Davis; Two Sisters, Melinda Davis and Juanita Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, A loving and Devoted Wife, Rosa Lee Monds; Son, Gabriel Monds, Jr. (Tracey), Gainesville, FL; Six Daughters, Rosetta Whitlock (Leroy), Boston, GA, Dorothy Miles, Beverly Collins and Deborah Monds, Mable Kirkland and Linda Monds, all of Quitman, GA; Two Brothers, Buddy Monds and Willie Monds (Marie), both of Quitman, GA; Brother-in-law, Frank Brown (Jeanne); Three Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Moore (Charlie), Daisy Smith and Margaret Beamon; 27 Grandchildren; 49 Great Grandchildren; A host of Special People, Nieces, Great Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews, Cousins and Friends

Funeral Service for Gabriel “Gable” Monds, Sr. will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at House of God in Unity, 709 Boundary Street, Quitman, Georgia. Burial: Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Quitman, Georgia.

Public Viewing: 12:00-8:00 PM – Friday, September 18, 2015 in the BTW Chapel.

Family Visitation: 6:00-7:00 PM--Friday, September 18, 2015 in the BTW Chapel.
